The Coptic Association for Social Care, in partnership with the Arab Office for Youth and Environment, held the inaugural conference of the “Resilient Productive Communities” project, funded by the European Union, on October 26, 2021, at the Triumph Hotel in Cairo.
“Resilient Productive Communities” project
The Coptic “Association for Social Care” is working in the project entitled “Resilient Productive Communities” funded by the European Union, which aims to improve the environmental status and maximize the benefit of available environmental resources in the target societies.
Overall objective(s)
- Empower civil societies to adopt positive environmental attitudes and behaviors.
- Adoption and promotion of low-cost renewable energy technology, with a strong focus on consumption in target societies.
- Reducing the problem of energy shortages and organic waste management in poor rural villages in upper Egypt by expanding biogas production.
- Create sustainable green job opportunities, as well as youth and women empowerment.
- Increasing the community resilience towards adaptation to the consequences of climate change and its effects.
Main activities
- Replacing incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs for 1800 houses in targeted societies.
- Establishing 100 biogas units in 2 rural societies
- Installing 8 renewable energy models using (Pvs technology) in mosque, church and agricultural land
- Lighting 27 streets with 540 LED lighting arms
- Conducting 36 capacity-building programs for the CSOs and CGC targeting 270 members.
- Implementing three local initiatives in the target society according to their needs.
- Providing 45 visual messages in the targeted societies to support positive environmental attitudes.
- Develop a documentary highlighting the project achievements.
- Distributing 5000 flyers for the target groups during the implementation of the project.
